Definition: The mermaid silhouette is a great style for flaunting feminine curves; tightly hugging the contours of the body from chest to knee (or slightly below the knee), where the skirt begins to dramatically flare away from the body, down to the hem.

The "mermaid" silhouette has become popular in the last 12 months or so and prom dress designers have really taken notice!  If you like this style of dress, you're going to find our racks are full of different versions with lots of unique colors and fabrics to choose from.  Some customers are hesitant to try on this style at first, but when fitted correctly, it can make your figure look amazing.  Whether you're a size 2 or a 22 make sure you try on at least one mermaid style when you stop in to see us!!

This dress is absolutely gorgeous!! I'm in love with the top of this dress and all of the sequins and rhinestones that it's made up of. The ruffles at the bottom of the dress are fun for prom this season. The openings in the ruffles also give you the opportunity to show off your legs!

If long dresses aren't your thing, this dress is the perfect short prom dress! The beading is beautiful and I love that it's not all the same. The sequins in the middle of the dress balance out the top and bottom very well. This dress was also seen on Karina Smirnoff from Dancing With The Stars! J

If you're looking for a more neutral dress but still looking to wow people, this is your dress! Everything about this dress is gorgeous and the best part is it's so comfortable!! My favorite part of this dress is the cutout back! Don't be afraid to try something like this!

     Now here is something that's definitely new and fashion forward for Prom 2012.the "cut-out" ballgown.  We think this is the perfect way to be a little bit sweet, and a little bit sassy at the same time!!

Drop Waist

    The drop waist ballgown, not to be confused with a mermaid style, is a very figure flattering style on pretty much any body type.  This silhouette has an extended bodice that fits farther down on your waist, but is not tight around your hips.  Here are a few examples of low waist, or drop waist ballgowns by designer Mori Lee.
